VAL THORENS.
A magical winter sports kingdom.
From 24th November 2007 to 4th May 2008.
Imposing itself from an altitude of 2300 metres, the highest resort in Europe is the culminating point of Les 3 Vallées, the biggest ski area in the world (600 km of pistes).
Situated at the heart of an exceptional Alpine theatre, with 6 equipped glaciers and summits above 3000 metres, Val Thorens offers an incomparable snow quality, abundant from mid November to the beginning of May. From the top of Cime Caron, a mythical summit situated at 3200 m, one can enjoy the widest panorama in France: a 360 ° tour of the horizon looking over more than 1000 French, Swiss and Italian summits. From powder fields to perfectly prepared pistes, the wide and varied ski area has something for everybody: alpine skiing, ski trekking, snow boarding, snow shoe outings… and even tobogganning on a 6 km piste, the longest in France.
With easy skiing near the resort, medium and difficult skiing on the summits, Val Thorens is the place for “great skiing” and first outings with fun for everyone, from beginners to experts. As for ski lifts, the ultra modern comfortable lifts provide rapid liaisons even at the height of the season or in difficult weather conditions.
The same diversity and strictness can be found in its accommodation, with hotels ranging from an prestigious 4 star to charming 2 stars, very affordable apartments to the most luxurious
and, for the last ten years, up-market chalets, offering ideal services for families or groups offriends.
A “ski from the door” pedestrian resort (car parking obligatory), Val Thorens offers a real village life in a welcoming and cosmopolitan ambience including a Sports Centre offering more than twenty sporty and relaxing activities, numerous boutiques for shopping, weekly classical and jazz concerts, and many other sporting activities (driving on ice, tobogganning, snow scooters,
ice waterfall climbing, snowshoe outing, paragliding, microlighting, the latest arrival a bowling…), restaurants, bars, nightclubs… The most difficult thing to do is to choose !
