In the township of Gressan, which forms part of the Monte Emilius area, Pila dominates the city of Aosta, to which it is linked by a scenic road 18 km long, or by a modern cable car (2000 p/h capacity and 2 mid way stations) which means you can leave your car and be on the pistes in just 18 mins. A 'ski on feet' resort, Pila gives direct access to the pistes from all its hotels and residences.
I 70Km of piste (25 of which are covered by snow cannons), wind between 1800m up to 2750m at Couis, where you can enjoy a breathtaking 3600 of Mont Blanc, the Grand Combin, the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa. 12 lifts with an hourly capacity of 18.900 persons supply a variety of pistes suitable for all, from beginners to experts.
The new FREESTYLE AREA at Pila is divided into two different sectors: the PIPE ZONE, situated at the arrival of the Nouva chair lift, and the entirely new SLOPESTYLE ZONE, that can be seen along the Grand Grimod ski run.
The PIPE ZONE includes a Half-Pipe of considerable size. 120 metres long,15 wide and 4 high. From this year it is entirely served by a moving walkway that avoids walking along the coping, saving energy until the last exit at 4 in the afternoon
The SLOPESTYLE ZONE: this is a real snowpark dedicated entirely to the most hardened snowboarders and to all freestyle-skiers, a new means of expression for youngsters in modern skiing.
It consists of two lines of varying difficulty, so as to satisfy two different levels of riding.
Also available for riders is a rail and rail-box series linked to snow structures of various sizes and difficulty. Kickers from 3, 6, 8, and up to 16 metres. A series of funbox and spines complete the many structures available.
The SLOPESTYLE ZONE is conveniently served by a four-seat chair lift that climbs the entire length of the park.
Qualified staff ensure daily maintenance and grooming of the snow structures as well as fixed structures.
Opening hours are from 10 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon.
An efficient sound system ensures excellent music coverage throughout the whole day.
The resort has more than 180 ski instructors at Pila ski school, who specialise in varying disciplines and are dedicated to teaching you to improve your technique. For children, from 4 years of age and over, there's the ski school camp with toys and a comfortable conveyor belt lift enabling all to enjoy the thrills of the snow.
Pila has hotels and blocks of service flats for an amount of 2700 bed places and many restaurants and pizzerias.
It can be reached from Italy by the A5 motor-way Turin-Aosta, exit Aosta-Est. Follow the Pollein-Charvensod-Pila direction on the regional road.From Aosta it is possible to reach the ski resort directly by the cableway Aosta-Pila.
From abroad: through the Gran San Bernardo Tunnel or the Mont Blanc Tunnel on the SS26 or SS27 in the Aosta direction and after the centre follow the Gressan-Pila direction.
By train: From Turin or Milan to Aosta via Chivasso. The cable car to Pila is joined to the station by a short pedestrian subway.
By bus: Turin-Aosta and Milan-Aosta autostrada coach services. The cable car to Pila is joined to the bus station by a short pedestrian subway.
